Statute of Limitations and how it Affects your Claim

Missouri law has a 5-year statute of limitations. This statute bars claimants from bringing a claim due to a motor vehicle collision if the claim is not settled or filed within 5 years after the date of the incident, with some exceptions.

Know Your Statute of Limitations! You will not be able to bring a claim if you are passed the statute of limitations in your state. Since personal injury claims take time to file, many attorneys will not consider your case if you are within 6 months of your statute of limitations expiring. Hire an attorney early in your personal injury case to avoid the statute of limitations.
