In a Car Accident? What to Do Next

  1. Call 911, report the collision, and ask for assistance. If an officer is unable to come to the scene, follow up later by making a walk-in report.

  2. If you are able to, make contact with the other party and gather their insurance information. Take down their name, contact information, insurance carrier, policy number, and type of vehicle.

  3. Your safety and well-being is important! Following the collision, visit a hospital or clinic for an evaluation of your injuries.

  4. Preserve the evidence. Take photos of the damage to your vehicle and if applicable, a photo of your physical injuries.

  5. Contact the insurance companies involved and file a claim. If you choose to hire legal representation, this can also be done by the attorney.

  6. Seek additional care if needed from a primary care provider, physical therapist, clinic, or chiropractor.

  7. Hire an attorney. By hiring Boyda Law, you can avoid feeling overwhelmed by the process or avoid being pressured into low settlement offers. Sometimes insurance companies will make immediate offers following your collision before you’re able to assess your injuries or understand the claims process. At Boyda Law we protect your interests and manage the process so you can focus on recovery and restoring your health.
